Aloha guys! Here is my Big Island Bucket List!
Green Sand Beach – This beach is called Papakolea, it is one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen. To get there you’ll need to hike down a lava cliff, I recommend closed shoes and a bottle of water.
(Directions from Kona: HI-11 south 50miles / right turn on S point road/park at the end/ walk and hike to the left.)
My favourite black sand beaches:
Punaluu Black Sand Beach– <1,5h drive from Kona taking HI 11
Pololu Valley! This one took a (20 minutes down/20 minutes up) hike to get to. I am very much in love with this place. It’s at the north tip of the island.
Kahaluu Beach Park was great for snorkeling, there were many sea turtles (close to Kona)
Kealakekua Bay a terrific destination for snorkeling and kayaking. Chances are that you are going to see many dolphins and turtles.
Honaunau Bay is another place I got to swim with dolphins.
Visiting the Volcano National Park was an unforgettable experience!
Nahuku also known as the Thurston Lava Tube, is a 500-year-old cave in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It is large enough to walk through and is 120 meters (400 feet) long.
I recommend a boat tour to see the Kilauea lava flow into the ocean. Take a helicopter tour to fly over Kilauea.
Hapuna Beach is my favourite white sand beach on Big Island.
Waterfalls on the Big Island of Hawaii are remarkable and breathtaking
Akaka Falls (129m)
Hi’ilawe Falls (442m)
Rainbow Falls (24 m) There is a cave behind this waterfall, which is worth exploring in the early morning. It is surrounded by divine vegetation.
